The rights and responsibilities of a full partnership in ETEN include the right and duty to send a voting delegate to the two annual ECO (ETEN Co-Ordinator) and TIG (Thematic Interest Group) leader meetings each September and each April.

General Rights: Delegates are informally allowed to bring one or more colleagues who can take part in and speak at the September and April meetings.

Responsibilities of an ECO (ETEN Co-Ordinator)
Regarding Student and staff mobility, the ECO:
§ recruits students and colleagues of own institute to send to ETEN partners;
§ coordinates student and staff/faculty exchanges within ETEN;
§ acts as the contact person for student and staff/faculty exchange within ETEN;
§ serves as host to incoming students from ETEN partners;
§ is receptive to cooperation with ETEN partners; and
§ initiates new partnerships, as appropriate.
As a Contact Person, the ECO:
§ attends the April conference and the September meeting;
§ communicates and disseminates information from other ETEN institutes to colleagues of her or his own institute and vice versa;
§ promotes opportunities within ETEN, the Theme Interested Groups (TIGs) and the ETEN annual April conference at own institute; and
§ updates data ‘Membership info’ of own institute at the ETEN Web site when necessary.
Regarding International Projects, the ECO:
§ promotes the importance of exchange and international projects at her or his own institute;
§ supports (and participates when possible in) international projects and research; and
§ seeks funding (and participates in joint research projects).

Student and staff exchange
Regarding student and staff exchange, a partnership in ETEN provides members with an easy way of making agreements about exchanges. The personal relations between ECOs and the confidence that results from those relationships make exchange agreements or programmes function very smoothly and individually.

Good practice
A full ETEN partnership gives members an unlimited possibility to send staff to the annual TIG-based Conferences, where a wide range of academic seminars offer reports and presentations of papers introducing national and international projects of interest for staff involved in teacher and educator education.
A TIG membership demands a certain degree of participation and support from the participating institution to give staff members engaged in a TIG financial and moral support. Under the right conditions ETEN is able to provide an exceptional possibility to work across borders with research and development on an academic level in favour of both the participating university and its educational efforts and the staff member in charge of the TIG membership.
Students can benefit from the TIGs through international courses generated as one of the results of the research and development work of a TIG.
